It's difficult for Australia to break new ground.

The highest peaks have already been conquered.

We're talking about the squad that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to six more T20 titles, and earlier maintained 1,294 days without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, targeted by the peak baggers, are all that remain for a side that has achieved everything.

That it took as late as Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase over 300, regaining their record for the largest in the women's 50-over format, is, honestly, a tribute to the bowling attack that have worn canary yellow over five decades.

It's difficult for their hitters to maintain a record if not afforded the chance.

Finally, the result of Australia allowing 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy getting a chance to create her latest masterpiece.

Initially recognized as the young family member of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after Australia failed to win either of the T20 or ODI World Cups conducted earlier and has witnessed all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup came three months after her bow and seven world titles have followed from 10 attempts across formats.

The gritty keeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India momentarily interrupted the winning streak.

That loss "pushed us to reevaluate our levels," Healy stated recently.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the championship match and was awarded tournament MVP. She made sure her country would not fail again.

Whether this recent magnificent innings exceeded that prior achievement can be debated.

Some will argue the reasoning behind final game tension. Some might respond with the test that comes when facing a record target and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What is certain is this century was considerably tougher to predict.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 came as she led the batting statistics, but this performance came after six matches in India since the start of last month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"For those following me in practice sessions, it has been a frustrating experience because it seemed my form was missing completely," stated Healy.

"But once you enter the playing area, your competitive nature activate and you just lock into the contest."

Healy's competitive nature has continuously been her key asset - and an invaluable trait in replacing iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, fallen to the 22-year-old seamer in every game, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's inspiration.

A single came off the opening delivery and from that point the batsman was in motion.

"An opportunity to take the field and lock in a contest with her and simply enjoy myself in that regard, kind of motivated me," said Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 balls - her quickest at the global tournament - and her century in 84 as she flogged anything short, striking 21 boundaries and three sixes.

Once she was removed Australia needed 66 additional runs at run per delivery - a manageable total now needing a comfortable finish.

"Pursuing 330 is unfamiliar ground so I am glad we have the assurance to accomplish that now," continued Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to repeat it but, if we do, we are confident we can succeed."

These statements will be the last Australia's opponents at this World Cup should hear.

In recent days a sense they will succeed regardless of circumstances has only strengthened - this victory following success over Pakistan by 107 runs despite sitting at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before an encounter with traditional opponents England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final berth may likely be confirmed.

It was in the semi-finals they exited the prior year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - an encounter Healy was absent due to ruptured tissue in her foot as she led her country for the initial instance at a significant event.

Such is her determination, she afterwards commented she wished she had played despite the injury.

Yet even as she subsequently acknowledged those physical issues have delayed thoughts of retirement, this World Cup is anticipated as her last as captain in one-day cricket and she is yet to win a world championship as captain.

Success in India would bring her to the top of her ultimate challenge.
