In a bizarre partnership that breaks traditional expectations, the game developer has announced an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, offering no-cost bonus story content for Shadows players.

Mysterious Mission Disclosed

According to the authorized announcement, "An unusual meeting leads characters Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh quest, where rumors of prohibited ceremonies and fearsome transformations resonate through the shadows." The narrative introduces a "strangely garbed woman named Ada" who charges the pair with traveling into the Gemstone Grotto—a key location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her friend from a clandestine cult.

The adventure concentrates on "strange trials and a monstrous adversary" and is open to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.

Familiar Locations and Transformations

The preview showcases the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was earlier where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The teaser ends with a dramatic sequence showing a character, presumably the hostage, changing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Items and Additional Content

Players who successfully complete the mission will receive an special katana alongside several artifacts concealed throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also includes in-store Attack on Titan item packs, offering:

• Mikasa attire for Naoe
• Exclusive weapons
• Survey Corps mount

Third Free Story Addition

This update also adds the game's latest free story episode, titled "The Enigma." This lighthearted mission teams Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange characteristic techniques: Naoe debuts a theatrical variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-fatal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Enigma" also contains a original environmental puzzle that may ultimately clarify some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

The series earlier showcased a 2020 crossover story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
